548th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with great devotion today by Gurmat Society and Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle of Khalsa College, Patiala. After the recitation of Shabads, Principal Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha discussed the doctrines of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.  The preaching of Guru Ji regarding the importance of doing hard work, reciting God's name and the habit of sharing can be applied even today for betterment of society. Dr. Ubha said that many immoral practices are pervading the society in the present time and Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings can be an ideal guide for improving the moral standard of the society.

The Department of Music conducted a Shabad Recitation Competition. Surtaal Kaur of B.A. Part I bagged the first position, Navjot Kaur of B.A. Part III got second position and Ravneet Kaur of M.A. Part I and Gurpreet Singh of B.A. Part III bagged third position in the competition.

Prof. Sukhmohan Kaur, Convener of Gurmat Society and Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, thanked all the staff members and students present on this occasion. The winner students of the competition were honoured at the end of the celebration.
