Gurcharan Singh, a student of B.Sc. Non.Medical-I of  KhalsaCollege, Patiala bagged the honour of Mr. Singh-2017. It is worth mentioning that this competition was held with the cooperation of "Khalsa Akal Purakh Ki Fauj" and Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar on the auspicious day of Baisakhi at Gurudwara Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib, Patiala. A total of 22 candidates representing different cities participated enthusiastically in this event.

Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, President, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar congratulated Gurcharan Singh and said that every student should aspire to achieve some goal in life. He also added that such competitions not only motivate the students to always move forward in life, but also bind them with their cultural roots.

Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, Principal, Khalsa College, Patiala said that it is a matter of great pride for the college that the student of this institution has secured first position in the competition organised by SGPC, Sri Amritsar, the apex body of Sikhs. He said that this success speaks volumes about the fact that Gurcharan Singh is true to his Sikh values. He expressed his hope that young generation can learn a lot from this monumental feat.

The winner Gurcharan Singh told about himself that he belonged to a simple family and he lost his father at a very young age and his mother inculcated in him the values of Sikh traditions. He aspires to be a successful model while preserving his Sikh identity.
