Khalsa College, Patiala organized its Annual Convocation on 8th April, 2017. Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, President, Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar was the chief guest and conferred degrees on 992 graduate and post graduate students. While congratulating the students, he said that diligence and devotion always pay rich dividends in the lives of students and attune them towards the path of complacency and contentment. He said that myriad latent entices have evolved in this modern commercialized world to entrap the youth, but only our rich spiritual heritage can save them from getting lost in the matrix. He announced the establishment of Bhai Mardana Music Studio in order to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. He also said that the college would start programmes to train the students for various competitive examinations.
Dr. Devinder Singh, Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala in his convocation address, said that mother tongue paves the ways for holistic growth of man and etching out his identity. Stressing upon the central role of culture in bestowing meaning to life, he said that swerving ties with our rich cultural heritage renders us crippled and deformed.
Dr. Pawan Kumar Singla, Information Commissioner, Punjab, was the guest of honour. He motivated the students to seer through the journey of life with sincerity and industry. Dr. Singla said that the need of the hour is to impart value based education among the students to ingrain in them ethical and moral values. He also emphasised the strengthening of familial ties and inculcate cultural values among the youth to negate the social evils like drugs and crime.
Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, Principal of the college read out the annual convocation report. While elucidating the achievements of the staff and the students, he said that under the able guidance of Prof. Badungar, the college is bound to reach the zenith of success. He also stressed upon the need to remain tolerant and broadminded in this globalised and stressful world to compete with copious challenges of sorts.
Dr. Jasleen Kaur, Deputy Principal, congratulated the degree holders and wished them a prosperous and successful life in future.
Dr. Tarlochan Singh Mahajan, Vice Principal, requested the chief guest to announce the commencement and closing of convocation function. Dr. Harvinder Kaur, Head, Department of Hindi presented the students for conferring the degrees.

Fashion Designing and Technology, M.Sc.IT, M.Sc.IT Lateral Entry, M.B.A., M.Com., MLD, M.A. Punjabi, M.A. English, M.A. Music Vocal, B.Sc. Biotech, B.Sc. Non-Medical, B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. (CSM), BCA, BBA, B.Com.(Prof), B.Com. (Accounting & Finance), B.Com.(Hons), B.Com., B.A. and B.A. Professional were awarded degrees during this function. Prof. Jaspreet Kaur conducted the proceedings.
